Job summary

MacGregor Black is working with a FMCG manufacturing business on the search for an Electrical Controls System Technician. This is a permanent role based in Livingston.

You will back up PLC programmes, diagnose faults and support plant efficiency, working closely with the Maintenance Manager to ensure compliance with electrical regulations and standards.

Qualifications

• Qualified to H.N.C./TEC level in electrical/electronic engineering.
• 3 years post electrical apprenticeship experience.
• Ability to read electrical diagrams.
• Experience with single and three-phase distribution and control systems.
• Experience with variable speed drive systems.
• Proven diagnostic skills in a fast-moving environment.
• Knowledge of I.E.E wiring regulations and Electricity at Work Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the site has up-to-date backups of all PLC programmes.
• Support the repair of faults and inefficiencies on plant and machinery.
• Record control faults, remedial actions and follow-up work.
• Work closely with the Maintenance Manager to ensure compliance and plant efficiency.
• Work closely with production management and respond to breakdowns related to control systems.

Do you have experience of removing, installing and updating PLC systems in a manufacturing setting?

Do you have knowledge and experience of current I.E.E electrical wiring regulations and Electricity at Work Regulations?

• To ensure the site has up to date backups of all PLC programmes
• To Support the repair of faults and in-efficiencies on plant and machinery.
• To Record Control faults, remedial actions and follow up work
• To work closely with and assist the Maintenance Manager to ensure compliance, and plant efficiency.
• To work closely with production management and respond to breakdown situations Control related

What We're Looking For:

• Qualified to H.N.C./T.E.C level in electrical/electronic engineering.
• 3 years post electrical apprenticeship experience.
• Proven ability to use and understand electrical test and measuring equipment.
• Working knowledge of both single and three phase distribution and control systems.
• Ability to read and understand electrical circuit diagrams.
• Good working knowledge and experience of variable speed control drive systems.
• Proven diagnostic skills in a fast moving and demanding environment.
• Good working knowledge and experience of instrumentation systems.

Salary up to £60k + Benefits.
