Job summary

Laboris Solutions is seeking an experienced Electrical/Controls Engineer to own LV electrical and control design across projects, including FAT and on-site commissioning. Based in South Oxfordshire (approx. 70%), with around 30% international travel to support commissioning and site activities.

The role requires 5+ years in electrical equipment design, expertise in LV/MV systems, and PLC/HMI with Siemens. A 35-hour week, site allowance, and life assurance are offered within a global engineering

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or higher.
• 5+ years' experience in electrical equipment design.
• Knowledge of LV and MV electrical systems.
• Experience with VFDs and commissioning.
• PLC/HMI programming and fault-finding (Siemens).
• Thyristor and transformer control, LV distribution and switchgear.
• Experience specifying transformers and cable/busbar supply runs.

Responsibilities

• Design bespoke low voltage electrical and control systems to industry standards.
• Lead FAT in-house and at customer sites, producing detailed test reports.
• Supervise electrical engineers on-site and support commissioning of LV control systems.

The Role

Take ownership of electrical and controls engineering across customer and in-house projects, from bespoke system design through to Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and on-site commissioning. You'll be based in South Oxfordshire (c. 70%) with c. 30% international travel to support commissioning and site activities.

What You'll Bring

• HNC/HND (or above) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• 5+ years' experience in electrical equipment design and supply
• Strong knowledge of low voltage electrical and control systems
• Experience commissioning and configuring Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• PLC/HMI programming and fault-finding (Siemens)
• Thyristor and transformer control, LV distribution and switchgear
• Medium voltage systems knowledge
• Experience specifying transformers and cable/busbar supply runs
• £45–55k base salary, plus site allowance (typically £5k+)
