Job summary

Lawtronic Ltd in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Electrical Controls & Automation Project / Design Engineer to lead automation projects from concept to commissioning.

You will design electrical schematics, LV switchgear and control panels, using EPLAN and AutoCAD, and prepare FDS and technical docs.

This role requires hands-on project delivery, UK travel, and collaboration with clients and suppliers across the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven experience in industrial automation and electrical design.
• Experience with EPLAN and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Manage control system and LV switchgear projects from enquiry to commissioning.
• Prepare Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and technical documentation.
• Produce quotations and project estimates.
• Design electrical schematics, control panels, backplate layouts and LV switchgear using EPLAN/AutoCAD.
• Galaxy software knowledge would be advantageous for LV switchgear projects.
• Develop and maintain build documentation for volume manufactured products.
• Specify hardware to UKCA, CE and UL 508A standards.
• Familiar with pneumatic designs.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams.
• Support FAT, site commissioning and fault finding.
• Post-installation and call-out support.
• General project engineering/management duties.

Electrical Controls & Automation Project / Design Engineer

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Controls & Automation Project / Design Engineer to join our expanding team.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead projects from concept through to commissioning, delivering automation, control systems, and low voltage switchgear solutions for a range of industrial applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage control system and LV switchgear projects from enquiry to commissioning.
• Prepare Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and technical documentation.
• Produce quotations and project estimates.
• Design electrical schematics, control panel layouts, backplate layouts, and LV switchgear systems using EPLAN, AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Galaxy 3 (Cubic software) would be advantageous for LV switchgear projects.
• Develop and maintain build documentation for volume manufactured products.
• Specify hardware solutions to UKCA, CE,
  • We also manufacture to UL 508A knowledge in this area would be beneficial
• Familiar with pneumatic designs
• Liaising with clients, suppliers, sub-contractors and other businesses
• Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), site commissioning, and fault finding.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Post installation & call out support duties
• General Project Engineering / Management Duties

Requirements

• HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in industrial automation, control systems, and electrical design.
• Experience with EPLAN and AutoCAD.
  • Galaxy software knowledge would be advantageous
• PLC/HMI programming and commissioning experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Strong technical, organisational, and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the UK, including occasional overnight stays.
