Job summary

Orton Group, based in the West Midlands, seeks an experienced Electrical Contracts Manager to deliver multi-site electrical construction projects across commercial, industrial, rail, and infrastructure sectors. You will lead project delivery from award to handover, coordinating teams, subcontractors and suppliers while ensuring safety, quality and profitability.

You will manage programmes, cost reporting and variations, maintain client relationships, and drive procurement and RAMS processes.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an Electrical Contract Manager within construction.
  • Strong technical understanding of electrical building services and installations.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and site delivery teams.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Rail project experience.
  • ECS/CSCS card.
  • SMSTS.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • Experience with project management and document control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage electrical projects from contract award through to completion and handover.
  • Coordinate labour, materials, subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
  • Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project programmes.
  • Monitor project performance against programme, budget and contractual requirements.
  • Chair and attend review meetings.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and key stakeholders.
  • Support site teams in overcoming technical and operational challenges.
  • Work closely with the commercial team to maximise project profitability.
  • Identify and implement efficiency and better buying strategies
  • Identify, manage and submit variations, compensation events and change requests.
  • Raise and manage RFIs, TQs and technical clarifications.
  • Support monthly cost reporting, forecasting and project reviews.
  • Assist with preparation of applications for payment and commercial valuations.
  • Undertake material take-offs and support procurement activities.
  • Identify long lead items and implement procurement strategies to mitigate programme risks.
  • Monitor material deliveries and subcontractor performance.
  • Ensure project resources are managed effectively to support programme requirements.
  • Work alongside colleagues to place orders/subcontract packages.
  • Support the development, maintenance and monitoring of project programmes.
  • Identify potential risks, delays and opportunities.
  • Produce weekly progress reports and support with programme updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure project teams remain aligned with key milestones and deliverables.
  • Implement recovery plans where necessary to maintain programme performance.
  • Promote a positive safety culture across all projects.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, client requirements and statutory regulations.
  • Wite, submit and maintain RAMS.
  • Monitor quality standards and support project inspections and audits.
  • Ensure project documentation is maintained accurately and in compliance with company systems.
  • Ensure works are commissioned, tested and handed over successfully
  • Support the completion of O&M Manuals and handover documentation
  • Ensure all as-built information and certification is compiled and submitted
  • Facilitate effective project close-out and lessons learned reviews

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Contracts Manager to join our growing team, delivering electrical construction projects across commercial, industrial, rail and other specialist infrastructure environments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient and profitable delivery of multiple projects from award through to completion. Working closely with clients, site teams, suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders, providing leadership throughout the project lifecycle whilst ensuring high standards of quality, safety and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Management
  • Manage electrical projects from contract award through to completion and handover.
  • Coordinate labour, materials, subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
  • Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project programmes.
