Job summary

Simply Jobsworth is seeking an Electrical & Automation Engineer to join our West Midlands team. The role covers electrical and automated systems supporting manufacturing and production operations, with hands-on duties and independent problem-solving.

You will diagnose faults, perform maintenance, read schematics, and support installations. The ideal candidate has PLC experience, fault-finding skills, and a strong focus on safety.

Qualifications

• Experience as Electrical & Automation Engineer or similar in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with PLC-controlled machinery and automation.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Experience with planned preventative maintenance.
• Commitment to Health & Safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults on machinery and production equipment.
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance.
• Fault-find on electrical control systems, sensors, motors, drives and associated equipment.
• Support and maintain automated machinery and production systems.
• Identify opportunities to improve machine reliability, efficiency and productivity.
• Assist with electrical modifications, installations and commissioning of equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Support the installation and commissioning of new machinery and automation systems.
• Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with Health & Safety requirements.
• Assist with the development of preventative maintenance programmes.
• Provide technical support to production colleagues when required.
• Work with external contractors and suppliers where specialist support is required.
• Contribute ideas and initiatives to improve manufacturing processes and automation.
