Job summary

Stagecoach Ayr Depot is seeking a hands-on Bus Electrician to maintain and repair electrical systems across our fleet. The role is based at Waggon Road, Ayr, with a 39-hour week from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

You’ll work with lighting, wiring, batteries, charging systems, and control units, supporting electric and hybrid vehicle technology. We offer full training, a competitive hourly rate, overtime opportunities, a generous pension, 33 days holiday, and travel perks.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in electrical or automotive engineering.
• Hands-on experience with PSV/HGV/vehicle electrical systems preferred.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills; safety-first approach.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults across our fleet of buses and coaches.
• Working on vehicle systems including lighting, wiring, batteries, charging systems, and control units.
• Supporting maintenance and inspection activities to ensure vehicles meet DVSA and Stagecoach safety standards.
• Using diagnostic equipment and software to identify and resolve issues.
• Assisting with the introduction and maintenance of electric and hybrid vehicles.
• Completing all work safely, accurately, and in line with company procedures.
• Collaborating with technicians and workshop teams to keep vehicles road-ready.
