Job summary

Morgan Ryder Associates is seeking an EICA Engineer to lead Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation initiatives at a modern production site in Liverpool. You will develop, implement and optimise advanced manufacturing systems to improve efficiency and reliability.

The role requires experience in PLC, SCADA and MES, instrumentation and motor control, plus a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. You'll collaborate with Operations, Engineering and external partners on projects from

Qualifications

  • Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical, Electronic, Automation or related Engineering discipline.
  • Experience in manufacturing, process, food, chemical or similar industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming, SCADA, MES, instrumentation, VSDs and motor control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Leading automation and process control improvements across the site.
  • Developing and supporting PLC, SCADA and MES systems.
  • Delivering engineering and capital projects from concept to commissioning.
  • Driving reliability, performance and operational efficiency improvements.
  • Providing technical leadership on instrumentation and control systems.
  • Supporting digital transformation and smart manufacturing initiatives.
  • Managing contractors, suppliers and project stakeholders.
  • Creating and maintaining control system documentation and standards.
  • Coaching and developing engineering colleagues.

EICA Engineer (Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation)

We are partnering with a highly successful and growing manufacturing business to recruit an EICA Engineer who will play a pivotal role in driving automation excellence across a modern production facility. This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of industrial automation, helping to deliver innovative engineering projects, optimise production performance and influence the future direction of site technology.

This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and wants to make a real impact through automation, digitalisation and continuous improvement.

The Opportunity

As the site's subject matter expert for Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation, you will lead the development and enhancement of advanced manufacturing systems, including:

  • PLC control systems
  • SCADA platforms
  • MES solutions
  • Process instrumentation
  • Variable speed drives and motor control systems
  • Factory automation and digital integration technologies

You will be instrumental in identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability and manufacturing performance through automation-led solutions.

Working closely with Operations, Engineering and external technology partners, you will help deliver projects ranging from equipment upgrades and process improvements through to major capital investment and factory development initiatives.

Requirements

You will be an experienced automation or controls engineer who combines strong technical expertise with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.

  • Degree, HNC or HND qualification in Electrical, Electronic, Automation or related Engineering discipline
  • Experience within manufacturing, process, food, chemical or similar industrial environments
  • Strong knowledge of:
    1. PLC programming and control systems
    2. SCADA platforms
    3. Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
    4. Industrial instrumentation
    5. VSDs and motor control systems
    6. MCCs and electrical systems
  • Experience delivering engineering projects and system upgrades
  • Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing, reliability engineering methodologies, FMEA or RCM would be advantageous.
