HSE Recruitment seeks an EHS Consultant Scotland for a manufacturing site in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire. This full-time, temporary contract runs six months initially, with potential monthly extension. Working Monday to Friday on flexible hours, the successful candidate provides practical, hands-on environmental, health and safety support following a long-term absence.
The initial contract will be 6 months, with the potential to continue on a rolling monthly basis. There is a strong possibility that the requirement could extend. This is a practical, hands-on position where you will take ownership of the day-to-day EHS requirements across the site, supporting employees and working closely with the Operations Manager to maintain standards and drive improvements. The site has a good culture and a hands-on Operations Manager, and there are no direct reports within the role. You will therefore need to be comfortable working independently, identifying what needs to be done and taking action without needing significant direction.
The site is a relatively small and straightforward manufacturing environment, producing cement-based products. There are approximately 50-60 employees across the wider Scottish operation, with around 30 employees based within the factory, alongside additional employees involved in areas such as training. The site is not a highly complex manufacturing environment, but there are ongoing opportunities to improve EHS standards and environmental performance. You will have the opportunity to make a tangible impact by identifying areas for improvement and seeing them through to completion.
You will ideally have experience working within a manufacturing environment and be confident managing practical, day-to-day EHS responsibilities.
The site is a permitted site, so experience with environmental compliance and ISO 14001 would be particularly beneficial. You will be someone who is practical, proactive and comfortable working independently. Rather than simply identifying issues, you will be expected to take ownership, put solutions in place and follow improvements through to completion.
The site operates Monday-Friday, with no regular night or weekend working. Standard hours are broadly 9am-5pm, although there is flexibility around working hours.
Initial 6-month contract. Potential to extend on a rolling monthly basis. Approximately £400-480 per day (inside IR35 PAYE via Umbrella). No regular nights or weekends. No direct reports.
