Job summary

SSA Recruitment is seeking an experienced EHS Advisor to join the Didcot-based major data centre project in Oxfordshire. You will work with project and site teams to uphold high Environmental, Health & Safety standards across the site.

The role requires NEBOSH General/Construction and 3+ years of on-site H&S experience. Strong communication and independent working skills are essential in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH qualification required.
• 3+ years' site-based H&S/EHS experience.
• Experience on large-scale construction projects preferred.
• Data centre, pharma, industrial or M&E project exposure advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of current UK H&S legislation.
• Experience with RAMS, audits, inspections and incident investigations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a project team.
• Proactive health and safety approach with attention to detail.
• CSCS and construction experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day EHS advice and support to project and site teams.
• Carry out regular site inspections, audits and safety walks.
• Review RAMS, method statements and safe systems of work.
• Support investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance with EHS requirements.
• Deliver and support site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Assist with EHS management system implementation and monitoring.
• Identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Maintain accurate EHS records and documentation.
• Support compliance with UK H&S legislation and procedures.
• Promote a proactive safety culture across the project.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Site Managers and subcontractors to improve EHS performance.

About the Role

Our client are currently seeking an experienced EHS Advisor to join the project team on a major data centre project in Didcot, Oxfordshire.

The EHS Advisor will work closely with the Project and Site Management teams, subcontractors and workforce to ensure high standards of Environmental, Health & Safety are maintained throughout the project.

This is a hands-on site-based position, ideal for an EHS professional with a strong construction background who is looking to develop their experience within the data centre sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day EHS advice and support to the project and site teams.
• Carry out regular site inspections, audits and safety walks.
• Review and monitor RAMS, method statements and safe systems of work.
• Support the investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance with project EHS requirements.
• Deliver and support site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Assist with the implementation and monitoring of the project EHS management system.
• Identify potential hazards and ensure appropriate corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
• Maintain accurate EHS records, reports and documentation.
• Support the project team in maintaining compliance with UK H&S legislation and company procedures.
• Promote a positive and proactive safety culture across the project.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Supervisors and subcontractors to continuously improve EHS performance.

Requirements

• NEBOSH General, Construction or equivalent EHS qualification.
• 3+ years' experience in a site-based H&S/EHS role.
• Previous experience working on large-scale construction projects.
• Data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, M&E or other technically complex project experience would be advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of current UK H&S legislation.
• Experience with RAMS, audits, inspections, incident investigation and subcontractor management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team.
• Proactive approach to health and safety with strong attention to detail.
• CSCS and relevant construction experience preferred
