Job summary

Old Dominion University seeks a Clinical Applications Coordinator to oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of clinical information systems and related workflows within Health and Wellness Services. You will coordinate between clinical, operational, technical, and security teams to ensure high-quality care delivery and regulatory compliance.

The role leads cross-functional projects, supports onboarding and access administration, and manages testing, training, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience with clinical information systems and electronic health records, including system configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting in healthcare or academic settings.
• Experienced analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to resolve complex technical and operational issues efficiently.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities for working with clinical, technical, operational stakeholders, and system administrators to implement and support system improvements.
• Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple complex projects, prioritize tasks effectively, and adapt in a fast-paced environment, including cross-functional teams.
• In-depth understanding of regulatory compliance and data security practices, with hands-on experience implementing safeguards and supporting audit processes.
• Comprehensive knowledge of HIPAA Security and Privacy Rules, including safeguards to protect patient information.
• Familiarity with Informatica workflows and data integration interfaces, coordinating with system administrators.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate design, implementation, optimization, maintenance, and evaluation of clinical information systems and related workflows.
• Serve as liaison between clinical, operational, technical, security teams, and vendors to support care delivery and compliance.
• Lead cross-functional workgroups on clinical documentation, EHR optimization, and operational reporting.
• Support onboarding/offboarding, access administration, training development, and audit support across Health and Wellness Services.
• Plan implementation timelines, document requirements, coordinate testing, and track risks and milestones with security and admin offices.
