Job summary

Torbay Council is recruiting an EHCP Officer to manage statutory assessments and plan Education, Health and Care Plans for children and young people with SEND across Torbay.

You will oversee a caseload, work with families, schools, health and social care, ensuring provision and timely transitions, with hybrid working and DBS checks in place.

This fixed-term role offers a supportive team and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Significant decision-making skills with ability to analyse information and assess risk.
• Proven problem-solving abilities with objective judgement under pressure.
• Ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and manage multiple agencies.
• Experience working collaboratively with professionals across multiple agencies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating and drafting Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Managing complex casework and statutory SEND processes.
• Monitoring and reviewing EHCPs through Annual Reviews.
• Working with schools, health services, social care and families.
• Supporting timely placement decisions and educational transitions.
• Ensuring statutory duties and timescales are met under SEND legislation.
