Job summary

SUEZ is seeking an experienced EfW Senior Maintenance Technician to ensure our energy recovery plant runs safely and efficiently in the Isle of Man. You will plan and execute maintenance, lead a team of electrical technicians, and apply best practices to maximize availability.

Candidates should have an HNC in Electrical or Instrumentation and a strong background in heavy industry maintenance, with a focus on safety and environmental standards. Relocation assistance is available.

Qualifications

• This role requires hands-on maintenance experience in heavy industry and strong leadership ability.
• Experience with electrical systems and process engineering in an energy-from-waste setting is preferred.
• Proven ability to improve plant availability while ensuring safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Plan and carry out maintenance activities to keep the energy recovery plant operational.
• Lead and develop junior electrical maintenance staff and provide expert guidance.

Salary: £41,019 - £44,943 (there is a structured progression plan in place to get to the top of the band salary which is £52,302)

Benefits: up to 10% annual bonus, 3x life assurance policy, 25 days holiday (plus 10 bank holidays), 5% employer pension, sick pay and additional benefits

Call Out / Over time Available: Overtime opportunities are available during two planned plant maintenance shutdowns each year. Overtime is paid at 1.5x or 2x the standard hourly rate, depending on the time worked.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week Mon-Fri

About The Role

What will I be doing?

You’ll be making sure our energy recovery plant is fully operational at all times. Day-to-day, you’ll plan and carry out a range of maintenance activities, leading and developing your team, whilst making sure safety, health and environmental standards are adhered to at all times. A cost-effective approach is important too, but best practice is crucial. Using your knowledge and experience, you’ll lead junior members of electrical maintenance team to perform at their best and provide specialist advice whenever required.

What are the requirements?

This is a role for a confident professional who has worked in a heavy industry in a hands-on maintenance role before. You’ll have an HNC in Electrical or Instrumentation field (or equivalent experience), and good working knowledge of environmental legislation. A Health & Safety qualification would be great but we’re more interested in your ability to lead a team, explain technical matters clearly, and improve plant availability.
