Senior Mechanical Maintenance Technician at SUEZ, Severnside Energy Recovery Centre, Avonmouth, leads mechanical maintenance to keep a 40MWe plant safe, reliable and efficient. You’ll mentor a multi-skilled team, plan preventative work and implement improvements to maximise availability while supporting sustainability goals.

The role demands hands-on expertise, leadership responsibilities and a focus on continuous improvement in a heavy industrial environment.

Qualifikationen

• Completion of a 4-year apprenticeship programme as a Mechanical Fitter or Mechanical Technician, with a minimum of 5 years' post-apprenticeship experience.
• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Maintenance.
• BTEC Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Maintenance.
• HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• IOSH qualification and a strong understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation.

About The Role

As a Senior Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you'll play a critical role in ensuring SERC operates safely, reliably and efficiently. Working within what is effectively a 40MWe power station, you'll lead mechanical maintenance activities, support operational excellence and help maximise plant availability while contributing to SUEZ's sustainability objectives.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional looking to take ownership, influence site performance and mentor others. You'll combine hands‑on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, driving continuous improvement and helping deliver essential environmental services.

What are the requirements?

The successful Senior Mechanical Technician will be a skilled and confident Senior Mechanical Maintenance Technician with significant experience in a heavy industrial environment such as Energy from Waste (EfW), power generation, utilities, manufacturing, chemical processing or other process industries.

Essential Requirements

• Completion of a 4-year apprenticeship programme as a Mechanical Fitter or Mechanical Technician, with a minimum of 5 years' post-apprenticeship experience.
• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Maintenance.
• BTEC Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Maintenance.
• HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• IOSH qualification and a strong understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation.
