Job summary

SUEZ UK at Severnside Energy Recovery Centre, Avonmouth, is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to maintain plant and equipment safely and efficiently. You will work in a fast-paced energy recovery facility, contributing to sustainable energy solutions and the circular economy.

The role demands a completed engineering apprenticeship and experience in maintenance engineering within process/energy environments.

Qualifications

• Engineering apprenticeship with City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in mechanical discipline.
• Experience in maintenance engineering within a process/energy environment.
• Knowledge of safe systems of work, permits, and safety standards; IOSH qualification.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across site plant and equipment.
• Use CMMS to record maintenance activities and updates.
• Collaborate with colleagues across engineering disciplines and support other sites as required.
• Maintain housekeeping, safety documentation, and plant records.
• Participate in a paid 24-hour call-out rota and training.

Salary: £45,808

Benefits: £3,000 call-out allowance, up to 10% annual bonus, 5% employer pension contribution, 25 days’ holiday plus 8 bank holidays

Location: Severnside Energy Recovery Centre, Avonmouth

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:45am to 3:45pm

What will I be doing?

As a Mechanical Technician within our Energy Recovery facility, you will play a key role in ensuring plant and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. Working in a fast-paced industrial environment, you'll contribute directly to delivering sustainable energy solutions and supporting the circular economy.

Key responsibilities include:

• Carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across site plant and equipment.
• Using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to accurately record maintenance activities and updates.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across different engineering disciplines and supporting other sites when required.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, safety documentation, and plant records following modifications or repairs.
• Participating in a paid 24-hour call-out rota and attending training and development activities as required.

What are the requirements?

• Completed engineering apprenticeship with a City & Guilds qualification or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant engineering discipline, IE Mechanical Fitter, or Mechanical Technician, Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Maintenance.
• Experience in maintenance engineering within a process, steam-raising, manufacturing, energy, waste, or heavy engineering environment.
• Knowledge of safe systems of work, including permit-to-work procedures and working within regulated environments.
• A health and safety qualification such as IOSH, alongside welding and burning experience.
• Familiarity with CMMS, a basic understanding of electrical systems, and regulatory monitoring experience; MCERTS certification is desirable but not essential.
