Job summary

SUEZ UK is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for our Energy Recovery facility in Avonmouth. You will perform hands-on mechanical maintenance to keep plant and equipment running safely and efficiently, with a focus on reliability and sustainability.

The role features a paid 24-hour callout rota, standard Monday–Friday hours, and a comprehensive benefits package, including pension and holidays. A progression path in sustainable energy and circular economy operations is offered.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance engineering within a process, steam-raising, or heavy engineering environment.
• Experience working safely in a regulated environment, including permit-to-work systems.
• Health and safety qualification (such as IOSH) preferred; welding and burning experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out high-quality mechanical maintenance across all plant and equipment.
• Supporting colleagues across disciplines and assisting other sites when required.
• Recording work accurately using the CMMS.
• Maintaining housekeeping and updating documentation after plant changes.
• Participating in a paid 24-hour callout rota and attending training when needed.

Mechanical Maintenance Technician - Energy Recovery

Salary: £45,808

Benefits: £3000 call out allowance, up to 10% annual bonus, 5% employer pension, 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays

Location: Severnside Energy Recover Centre Avonmouth

Hours: Monday – Friday 7.45am – 15.45pm

What will I be doing?

As a Mechanical Technician within our Energy Recovery facility in Avonmouth, you’ll play a vital role in keeping essential plant and equipment operating safely, efficiently, and sustainably. This is a hands‑on opportunity suited to those with a mechanical bias who want to build a long‑term career in sustainable energy and circular economy operations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Carrying out high-quality mechanical maintenance across all plant and equipment
• Supporting colleagues across disciplines and assisting other sites when required
• Recording work accurately using the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Maintaining excellent housekeeping and updating documentation following plant changes
• Taking part in a paid 24‑hour callout rota, as well as attending training when needed

What are the requirements?

• A completed engineering apprenticeship, with City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3
• Experience in maintenance engineering within a process, steam‑raising, or heavy engineering environment
• Experience working safely in a regulated environment, including permit‑to‑work systems
• A relevant health and safety qualification (such as IOSH), plus welding and burning experience
• Working knowledge of CMMS, a basic appreciation of electrical systems, and regulatory monitoring experience (MCERTS desirable)
