Job description

Our Vehicle Maintenance Unit is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated individual to join as a Senior Vehicle Maintenance Technician.

Hours: 40 per week.

Shifts: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Salary: £23.86 per hour (base salary).

In this role, you will work in a busy environment, leading and developing a team of Vehicle Maintenance Technicians to ensure vehicles are serviced, repaired, and meet Department of Transport (DOT) standards, following company preventative maintenance schedules.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage the performance of Vehicle Maintenance Technicians effectively.
2. Assist in daily operations of the VMU in the absence of the Workshop Maintenance Supervisors.
3. Diagnose faults and repair vehicles to meet minimum DOT standards, aligned with preventative maintenance programs.
4. Complete all relevant documentation for work performed and report to the Line Manager.
5. Road test vehicles, where qualified and instructed to do so.
6. Take vehicles for DOT tests as required, where qualified and instructed.
7. Ensure safe and correct use of all tools, equipment, and plant.
8. Wear personal protective equipment in accordance with FedEx's Health & Safety policy.
9. Adhere to HASAWA, legislation, security procedures, and maintain good housekeeping.
10. Provide high levels of internal and external customer care.
11. Maintain communication with traffic departments and the VMU.
12. Ensure no vehicle leaves the VMU in an un-roadworthy condition.

Qualifications in vehicle maintenance, excellent communication skills, ability to work in a busy environment, and attention to detail are essential. A full driving license is required; experience in the transport industry and Category C+E entitlement are preferred but not mandatory.
