About The Role

Within our Security, Resilience & Protection department, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cyber Security Operations Analyst – Cyber Defence.

Objective

The Cyber Security Operations Analyst supports the Cyber Security Operations team in enhancing the organisation's security posture and defending against cyber-attacks. The role involves delivering operational security improvements, including compliance, penetration testing, attack surface management, vulnerability management, and cloud and network security.

The role reports to the Cyber Defence Lead, based in Edinburgh, working closely with our Cyber Security Operation Centre, security functions, third-party security providers, and global IT and business teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage server, endpoint, and cloud security compliance, including policy scanning and Azure policy compliance.
• Handle ticket triage and response, managing security-related queries.
• Assess external attack surface and coordinate remediation actions.
• Conduct vulnerability management, including scans and remediation workflows.
• Oversee penetration testing, including scoping, scheduling, and coordinating remediation.

About The Candidate

• Knowledge of IT and information security, capable of responding to security incidents.
• Experience with security tools such as IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, AV, web/email filtering, firewalls, DDoS protections, malware analysis, and penetration testing.
• Familiarity with enterprise technologies like Microsoft, Linux, VMWare, Citrix.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, device and firewall hardening.
• Passion for security and continuous learning about evolving threats and technologies.
• Understanding of cyber defence concepts, including risk scoring, remediation, and compliance methodologies.
