Job description

As a Business Development Manager - Broker, you will utilise your experience in working with a portfolio of Brokers to introduce business to Barclays from both new and existing clients. You will travel to visit clients at their business premises and gain an understanding of their strategic ambitions; representing Barclays and the ways through which we can support with their lending needs. You will be flexible and adaptable with your time; managing your diary effectively.

To be successful as a Business Development Manager - Broker, you should have experience with:

  • Working specifically with Commercial Finance Brokers.
  • Credit.
  • Stakeholder engagement.
  • Relationship building.

This role can be based in either Gloucester or Bristol.

Purpose of the role

To identify and capitalise on business opportunities, expand the customer base, manage relationships, and drive revenue growth.

Accountabilities
  1. Execute market research and analysis to support the identification of potential opportunities, market trends, and customer needs, developing strategies for business growth.
  2. Identify leads through various channels such as networking, referrals, cold calling, and attending industry events.
  3. Manage existing client relationships to understand their needs and identify opportunities for cross-selling or upselling banking products and services.
  4. Develop and execute strategies to acquire new business and expand the customer base, including preparing proposals, presentations, and negotiating contracts.
  5. Collaborate with product managers, credit analysts, operations, and other internal stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of banking products and services to clients.
  6. Forecast KPIs and track progress against goals, including regular reports on business development activities, pipeline status, and solutions performance to management.
  7. Contribute to the development of business development strategies and initiatives to drive revenue growth and achieve business objectives.

Lead specialists to influence department operations, balancing strategic and tactical priorities, while ensuring budgets and schedules meet requirements.

  4. For individual contributors, act as a subject matter expert, guide technical direction, lead multi-year assignments, and mentor less experienced team members.

  7. Understand organizational functions to contribute to business goals.
  8. Collaborate with support areas to stay aligned with business activity and strategies.
  9. Create solutions through sophisticated analysis and interpretative thinking.
  10. Incorporate research outcomes into problem-solving processes.
  11. Build and maintain trusting relationships with stakeholders, using influencing and negotiating skills.
