DescriptionReporting to a Project Manager, the Trainee Site/Project Manager will support overseeing projects of varying values and natures. The primary role is to assist the site-based Project Manager in ensuring the project runs efficiently, profitably, and in full compliance with Health & Safety legislation and contract conditions. The key conditions are that all work is completed to a high standard, safely, on time, and to the client's satisfaction.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist and learn all aspects of the site-based Project Manager's responsibilities and daily project operations.
- Support and monitor Health & Safety practices and CDM Regulations on site.
- Attend regular site meetings with clients, architects, quantity surveyors, planning supervisors, etc.
- Assist in preparing reports, programmes, progress, and profitability reports.
- Help in agreeing pricing and instructions with clients or their agents.
- Contribute to valuations and final accounts.
- Assist in tender preparations.
- Procure, negotiate, and monitor subcontractors and suppliers.
- Identify and implement service improvements.
- Procure new clients and suppliers.
- Ensure high levels of customer care.
- Produce monthly reports such as cost and value comparisons, turnover forecasts, etc.
- Contribute to financial and progress meetings with stakeholders.
- Support the site team to optimize contract resources.
- Assist the Project Manager with data input and maintain deadlines.
- Use our bespoke computer system and standard software like Word, Excel, and Project.
This is a full-time position, 42 hours/week: 07:45-17:15 Monday-Thursday, 07:45-16:45 Friday, involving travel and working away as needed. The role requires various clearances, including an Enhanced DBS check.
Essential Requirements
- Studying towards or completed a HNC/D in Construction or related qualification.
- GCSE or equivalent Grade C or above in English, Literacy, Numeracy, and ICT.
- Willingness to undertake training programs.
- Competent in IT packages.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and team-oriented.
- Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
- Hold a valid UK driving license, with 6 months driving experience, and live within an hour of PE1 5UP.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working in construction.
- CSCS Card, IOSH Managing/Working Safely, NEBOSH, First Aid Certificate, etc.
