Job description

Job Title: Assistant Project Manager - Building Services

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our Building Services facilities management team on-site at Royal Derby Hospital.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Review requests for Small Works and Developments, assess scope, and prepare cost estimates.
  2. Track all small works and assist the commercial team with the recharge process.
  3. Assist onsite project managers with larger projects, including preparing purchase orders and estimating ongoing service/maintenance costs.
  4. Liaise with the Estates Team to consider all aspects of work, such as mechanical, electrical, or building concerns.
  5. Ensure timely submission of quotations to clients and expeditious completion of approved work.
  6. Update drawings, manuals, and maintenance systems as necessary.
  7. Represent the Estates Department at meetings with other disciplines and external bodies.
  8. Assist in managing Estates' direct labour, external contractors, and professionals.
  9. Promote health, safety, and quality practices among staff and contractors.
  10. Maintain contacts within the hospital, with contractors, suppliers, and statutory bodies to uphold estate standards.
  11. Manage maintenance subcontractors, monitor PPM completion, and support the Maintenance Department technically.

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, typically 0800 – 1600 hrs. Overtime, including some weekends, may be required and will be compensated accordingly.

Essential qualifications and skills:

  • Electrical, mechanical, or building services Qualification Level 3 or above.
  • Full UK driving license and access to own vehicle.
  • Basic computer literacy skills.

Additional desirable experience:

  • Previous staff management experience.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
  • Understanding of Building and Fire Regulations, HTMs, and other guidance.
