Job description

Job Description

My client, an industry-leading tier one civil engineering and construction firm, is looking for a Quality Engineer to join their Rail division on a temporary contract in the North East of England. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of one of the most prestigious rail projects in the region.

Role Brief

The Quality Engineer provides assurance that the quality management system is adequate, effectively implemented, and enables the delivery of expected results. This ensures requirements are met to achieve efficient and effective delivery, providing value for customers, identifying improvements, and facilitating quality enhancements that deliver sustained benefits.

About the role

Responsibilities include planning, evaluating, verifying, and certifying quality, proposing and embedding improvements to ensure effective delivery, minimizing costs and failures, and meeting customer, stakeholder, and PPP specifications and requirements. The role involves deploying quality assurance and control activities to support first-time-right delivery, implementing quality improvement plans aligned with objectives, and sharing learning to enhance quality performance. The Quality Engineer must work effectively to identify quality improvements and influence operational changes. Maintaining quality is crucial for safety standards, especially considering the regulatory requirements of the nuclear industry. Processes for certification and verification are detailed and compliance-driven.

Candidate requirements
  • Graduate in a relevant discipline or hold a professional qualification (e.g., CQI Diploma Level 5).
  • Membership of the CQI or other relevant professional body.
  • Proven experience as an Internal Auditor within a live rail environment with similar complexity and risk, capable of reviewing end-to-end processes and proposing improvements.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with stakeholders; rail experience is advantageous.
