Job Details

We are recruiting an R&D Senior Scientist with extensive experience in cell biology-based tests and expertise as an SME in biocompatibility. This role involves supporting the design and development of medical devices by providing compliant technical support to R&D, with management responsibilities for direct reports. The position reports to the R&D Manager and is based in Winsford.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform testing and investigations using various cell biology assays, including cell viability, scratch assays, cell model setup, cell imaging/fluorescence, ELISA, anti-inflammatory screening, cytotoxicity, and MMP sequestration.
  2. Assist in developing, optimizing, and validating new test methods for R&D projects.
  3. Act as an SME in biocompatibility, generating, reviewing, and approving documentation for new product design and modifications according to standards.
  4. Manage and develop direct reports within the R&D team.
  5. Accurately record data and maintain documentation following Good Laboratory Practices and R&D procedures.
  6. Conduct literature research to correlate findings.
  7. Maintain the Tissue Culture Laboratory in a compliant state, ensuring materials, reagents, cell lines, and equipment are in stock, calibrated, and validated.
  8. Ensure all practices comply with current cell biology standards and test methods.
  9. Author and approve scientific protocols, reports, publications, and posters, providing conclusions and recommendations.
  10. Support regulatory submissions with documentation and testing.
  11. Assist Sales & Marketing in producing marketing collateral.
  12. Participate actively in departmental meetings and contribute to continuous improvement.
  13. Adhere to high standards of GLP and H&S in laboratories.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in Biological Sciences or related field.
  • Experience with a broad range of in-vitro cellular assays.
  • Relevant biocompatibility experience preferred.
  • Management experience.
  • Ability to apply regulations independently.
