Job Description

Job title: Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Advisor – Construction

Location: Barrow-in-Furness

Salary: Circa £45,000

What you’ll be doing:
  1. Provide professional interface with timely and consistent advice, support, coaching, and governance of Safety, Health, and Environmental standards and legislation to support the client’s construction projects.
  2. Provide Safety, Health, and Environmental assurance through compliance auditing, inspection, and reporting of Principal and sub-contractors' Safety, Health, and Environmental arrangements and construction activities.
  3. Offer conventional Safety, Health, and Environmental advice and assurance during the design and construction phases of major projects.
  4. Support, lead, and deliver key risk reduction and improvement projects/activities.
  5. Conduct accident/incident investigations as necessary, ensuring comprehensive reports with root cause analysis.
Your skills and experiences:
  • NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction certificate or NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent qualification (essential).
  • NEBOSH Environmental certificate or Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment certificate, or equivalent qualification (desirable).
  • Ability to provide conventional health, safety, and environmental advice to all levels within a high-hazard construction environment.
  • Professional interaction with Regulators, CDM duty holders as Client Safety, Health, and Environmental representative.
  • Compliance auditing, inspection, and investigative skills.
  • Understanding of assurance and application of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

The Safety, Health, and Environment team:

As a SHE Advisor, you will support the design and construction of new facilities enabling the safe construction, testing, and delivery of Nuclear-powered Submarines. We offer relocation support across all Submarine roles, subject to eligibility criteria.
