A leading company in personal care product manufacturing is seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer for a 3-month contract at Barrow Mill. The role involves ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, managing ISO 14001 systems, and providing technical support for wastewater treatment and emissions management. Ideal candidates will have a BSc in Environmental Science and at least 5 years of experience in regulated environments.

Job Title: Environmental Engineer

Location: Barrow Mill, UK

Duration: 3 Months | 37.5 hours/week

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer to support environmental compliance and continuous improvement at Barrow Mill, Europe’s largest tissue facility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure site-wide environmental compliance with UK/EU legislation and corporate EHS standards.
• Maintain and enhance ISO 14001-certified Environmental Management Systems.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies (e.g., Environment Agency) on permits, reporting, and inspections.
• Provide technical support for wastewater treatment, emissions, waste, and radiation management.
• Support new project design and environmental risk assessments.
• Guide the implementation of best practices in effluent plant operations and water use reduction.
• Oversee waste and emissions compliance (air, land, water) under duty of care obligations.

Requirements:

• BSc in Environmental Science or related field + Diploma in Environmental Management.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in regulated environments (e.g., EA permitted facilities).
• Proven knowledge of wastewater treatment, radiation/Legionella control, and ISO 14000 systems.
• Reporting to: Barrow Mill EHS Manager.
