Location: Sussex (with flexible working options)

Reporting to: Chair of the Board of Trustees

Salary: £45,000

Contract: Permanent, Part-Time

Do you have a passion for heritage, leadership, and community impact? The Sussex Heritage Trust is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and visionary Chief Executive Officer to lead our charity into its next chapter.

We are a charity dedicated to preserving and celebrating the architectural and cultural heritage of Sussex. Our high-profile Awards programme, educational bursaries, and new Heritage Skills Taster Day initiative are at the heart of our mission to support excellence in conservation and traditional skills.

As CEO, you will:

• Provide strategic leadership and work closely with Trustees to deliver the Trust’s charitable objectives.
• Lead fundraising and development, with a proven track record of securing income in excess of £150,000 annually.
• Build and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including funders, sponsors, local authorities, and heritage organisations.
• Deliver impactful programmes and events across Sussex, including the Sussex Heritage Trust Awards and Biennial Fundraising Dinner.
• Champion education and skills development, particularly in traditional building and conservation techniques.

We are looking for someone with:

• 5+ years’ senior leadership experience in the heritage, cultural, or charitable sectors.
• A passion for the built and natural heritage of Sussex.
• Proven experience in fundraising, partnership development, and organisational leadership.
• The ability to inspire, engage, and influence at all levels.
