Job description

Our client has an immediate requirement for a Field Service Tech supporting Fleet vehicles with all IT and E/M systems. This position will report to both the Worcester and Northborough Depot locations. They will work with onsite workers to resolve issues with Desktops, laptops, iPads, and related equipment. Training on equipment installed in fleet vehicles will be provided.

SITE TRAVEL IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE

Tasks
  1. Maintain current instruction manuals for vehicle up-fitters to properly install components.
  2. Attend field worker training on new devices and project rollouts.
  3. Manage lifecycle services for vehicle mounting and support installations.
  4. Collaborate with third-party suppliers and customers to specify and update vehicle dock kit specifications.
  5. Obtain ergonomic and safety approvals from the Customer's Fleet Services before making changes.
  6. Manage builds tailored to field-based laptop functions.
  7. Repair and reimage field Devices.
  8. Coordinate with logistics providers to move Devices across the service territory.
  9. Maintain a stock inventory for break/fix swaps.
  10. Provide vehicle mounting and installation services, including expansions.
  11. Consult with third-party suppliers to update vehicle dock and electronic components reflecting retired models and replacements.
  12. Review wiring and cabling changes due to component updates.
  13. Manage lifecycle services for video capturing, Code Blue Devices, and AVLS (Modem) Devices, including updates and testing.
  14. Investigate and provide findings related to AVLS (GPS locations) and DriveCam videos/photos.
  15. Handle modem activation/deactivation and on-site services across multiple locations.
  16. Recommend improvements for repair processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  17. Ensure proper care of specialized tools.
  18. Support operational needs by field support in critical situations.
  19. Communicate effectively with end users and update asset management data.
Skills/Ability Knowledge
  • Ability to work independently with good judgment and initiative.
  • Strong leadership, customer service, and relationship management skills.
  • Technical proficiency with Windows XP, Windows 10, Microsoft Office, Apple, Mac, iPad, iPhone, and other desktop applications.
  • Experience with hardware customization, troubleshooting, and inventory management.
  • Ability to develop trends and analyze support requests.
  • Familiarity with network troubleshooting and OS deployment tools.
Soft Skills
  • Thought Process: Capable of understanding technical concepts, solving complex problems, and managing multiple priorities.
  • Interpersonal: Excellent customer service, communication, and negotiation skills. Ability to motivate and work cooperatively.
  • Physical: Able to lift 40 lbs, work in various weather conditions, and perform physical tasks as required.
