Job Description: Auto Installation Technician for Emergency Vehicles – Chester, VA

East Coast Emergency Vehicles, LLC has been a leader in the emergency vehicle installation and supplier industry in Virginia. We are a full-service emergency vehicle equipment supplier and installer with county and municipal contracts. We currently hold and service the Virginia State Whelen Lighting contract for Whelen finished goods. We are seeking candidates who excel in prioritization and execution, with professional conduct, to join us as an Emergency Vehicle Installation Technician. The ideal candidate will have experience, attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and/or automotive experience. This role offers growth opportunities through mechanical skills enhancement, training, and education in vehicle upfitting for emergency responders. The Emergency Vehicle Installation Technician plays a vital role in ensuring our first responders operate safe, reliable, and effective vehicles. Responsibilities include installing equipment such as emergency lighting, sirens, prisoner transport systems, radios, radar, in-car camera systems, license plate readers, consoles, cargo cabinets, weapon and drone mounting systems, and push bars. We will provide training to the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Removing factory interior and exterior equipment and parts
• Installing specialized emergency vehicle parts such as lightbars, emergency lighting, push bumpers, sirens, controllers, speakers, partitions, window bars, prisoner seats, gun racks, car video systems, computers, license plate recognition systems, and more
• Maintaining shop cleanliness and safety duties
• Keeping tools and inventory organized

Attributes of a Strong Candidate

• Experience in emergency upfitting, car audio, 12V systems, or body shops
• Experience with hand and power tools
• Aptitude for mechanical, electrical, and electronic components
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Comfort working in, under, and around vehicles
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Ability to pass background checks and drug screening
• Current driver’s license with a good driving record
