An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time or full-time appointment as an Educator working within the Community Resilience department at SECAmb. The department is seeking to embed educational support for volunteers within the three geographical divisions of Kent, Surrey and Sussex, with a 0.5 whole time equivalent (WTE) in each. The post will therefore suit an individual who wishes to work part time within one of the divisions, or full time whilst supporting two divisions – note that post-holders will work as part of a team to ensure volunteers across the Trust are supported, and therefore may also work outside their allocated division(s) as needed. The portfolio includes Community First Responders, Chaplains, our four Retirement Associations, Community Guardians and Public Access Defibrillators (PAD). There will also be involvement in providing education and support to members of the public, particularly regarding Basic Life Support / CPR training and Automated External Defibrillator familiarisation. Reporting to the Community Resilience Manager, you’ll be immersed in all areas of work in this fast-paced and focused department.
The post holder will plan and facilitate the delivery of training and mentoring to all grades of staff (including volunteers) and support individual staff with their development as necessary. To do this, they will ensure their own competency by maintaining the necessary standards defined by the Trust. This role will include acting as the first point of contact for candidates undertaking educational programmes being delivered; and escalating any concerns to the responsible programme lead for the programme being delivered. You will need a flexible approach to meet the needs and demands of volunteers and the public, which at times will include working evenings and weekends in agreement with your line manager. You may also need to travel across the Trust (business expenses paid in line with Trust policy).
Other than in exceptional circumstances, the starting salary for staff new to the NHS will be the bottom point of the band to which they have been appointed. Please note that the salary range noted on the vacancy is in line with agenda for change (AFC) pay scales. All successful applicants would be placed automatically at the bottom of the banding, unless proven, relevant NHS or equivalent experience can be demonstrated.
Following the revision of current national legislation (Vaccine as a Condition of Deployment), the Trust has reviewed our requirements relating to staff uptake of the SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19) vaccination. Going forward, for patient facing positions, we strongly recommend that new starters will be appropriately vaccinated unless medically exempt in order to offer greater protection against exposure to the virus for front line staff. In line with this recommendation, if you are successful in your application for a front line post, we will seek information from you in relation to your vaccine status, including exemption status, as applicable.
All positions come with a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check relevant to the post. This will either be a basic, standard, or enhanced check depending on the role. The level of check will be outlined in the conditional offer letter sent to successful applicants.
