We are rated 'Good' for care by the Care Quality Commission and while the other areas under their most recent report require improvement, our aim is to continually improve and to reach outstanding across all areas of the Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time or full-time appointment as an Educator working within the Community Resiliencedepartment at SECAmb. The department is seeking to embed educational support for volunteers within the three geographical divisions of Kent, Surrey and Sussex, with a 0.5 whole time equivalent (WTE) in each. The post will therefore suit an individual who wishes to work part time within one of the divisions, or full time whilst supporting two divisions – note that post-holders will work as part of a team to ensure volunteers across the Trust are supported, and therefore may also work outside their allocated division(s) as needed. The portfolio includes Community First Responders, Chaplains, our four Retirement Associations, Community Guardians and Public Access Defibrillators (PAD). There will also be involvement in providing education and support to members of the public, particularly regarding Basic Life Support / CPR training and Automated External Defibrillator familiarisation. Reporting to the Community Resilience Manager, you’ll be immersed in all areas of work in this fast-paced and focused department.
The post holder will plan and facilitate the delivery of training and mentoring to all grades of staff (including volunteers) and support individual staff with their development as necessary. To do this, they will ensure their own competency by maintaining the necessary standards defined by the Trust.
This role will include acting as the first point of contact for candidates undertaking educational programmes being delivered; and escalating any concerns to the responsible programme lead for the programme being delivered.
You will need a flexible approach to meet the needs and demands of volunteers and the public, which at times will include working evenings and weekends in agreement with your line manager. You may also need to travel across the Trust (business expenses paid in line with Trust policy).
Other than in exceptional circumstances, the starting salary for staff new to the NHS will be the bottom point of the band to which they have been appointed.
This is an exciting opportunity to help equip volunteers and their wider communities with the confidence and skills to save lives. As part of our Community Resilience team, you will deliver engaging educational programmes to our network of volunteers to ensure they have the skills and confidence needed to undertake their roles. Programmes included induction courses for new volunteers, mandatory training and annual updates to volunteers already in post, and a programme of Continuing Professional Development and support training to maintain interest and support personal development.
Alongside commitments to our volunteers, you will deliver training such as CPR familiarisation and other educational programmes to members of the public to support the Trust’s aim of creating resilient communities who are confident to save lives.
Through coaching, mentoring and quality assurance, you will help ensure volunteers are confident, well supported and able to deliver high-quality care in emergency situations. You will support non-patient-facing volunteers with delivering courses to the public, and ensure they are empowered to deliver consistently high quality education.
Working across a variety of community settings, you will plan and deliver training sessions, assess learners, provide constructive feedback and ensure every course is delivered to a consistently high standard. You will work closely with colleagues and external partners to coordinate training activity, maintain course logistics and continually improve the quality of our educational programmes. As a positive role model, you will champion best practice, encourage continuous learning and play an important role in helping to increase bystander CPR rates and strengthen community resilience across the South East.
