Job summary

The University of Sheffield is seeking a part-time 0.8 FTE University Teacher in Educational & Child Psychology to contribute to the DEdCPsy programme. You will support teaching, placements and research supervision, joining a tutor team delivering activities across the School’s portfolio.

You will supervise trainee Educational Psychologists, participate in admissions, and carry out progression reviews with trainees, while developing practice and leadership across the department.

Qualifications

  • Hold a degree in Psychology plus a further qualification in Educational Psychology.
  • Fully qualified HCPC registered Educational Psychologist.
  • Experience in designing and delivering in-service training, and supervision of students.
  • Ability to design and deliver specified DEdCPsy seminars across all year groups, identifying learning objectives in line with curricula defined by BPS/HCPC learning outcomes.
  • Knowledge of systems, policies, legislation and quality standards relevant to educational psychology.
  • Effective communication skills including written, verbal and interpersonal.
  • Ability to assess and organise resources, and plan and progress work activities, to manage workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to undertake consistent assessment of student work against guidance criteria, and contribute to course evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver seminars for the Doctorate in Education and Child Psychology programme across all year groups.
  • Plan and prioritise your own work in line with course requirements up to five years ahead.
  • Keep up to date with developments in practice in Educational Psychology.
  • Attend and participate in admissions processes and selection panels.
  • Provide individual doctoral research supervision.
  • Undertake progression reviews with allocated trainees.
  • Support and liaise with Fieldwork Tutors in relation to Year 1 placements.
  • Contribute to scholarship education and leadership across the School of Education.
  • Carry out other duties commensurate with the grade and remit.
