Job summary

Sense College Rothwell is seeking an Education Support Worker to help learners develop skills, independence and confidence as they prepare for adulthood.

The role is part-time, fixed-term (14 hours/week) with term-time schedule, morning/afternoon hours, and a salary of £14 per hour. Training and development are provided, with DBS checks and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• GCSE maths and English at GCSE level or equivalent.
• Willingness to work towards Level 3 teaching support qualification.
• Positive attitude towards working with people with SEND.
• Understanding of the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework.
• Ability to contribute to EHCPs and person-centred plans.
• Ability to maintain clear and accurate records.
• Ability to support learners with dressing and personal care.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and build relationships.
• Experience with learners with sensory or dual sensory impairments is advantageous.

We have a great opportunity for an Education Support Worker to join our team at Sense College Rothwell, supporting learners to develop their skills, independence and confidence as they prepare for adulthood.

This is a part-time, fixed-term role working 14 hours per week, Thursday and Friday from 9:15am–4:15pm, for 39 weeks per year (term time), on a one-year fixed-term contract, with a salary of £14 per hour.

As an Education Support Worker, you'll work closely with learners to help them achieve the outcomes identified in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), keeping their individual needs, choices and aspirations at the heart of the support you provide.

You'll work alongside experienced education colleagues to support teaching and learning, finding creative and inclusive ways to help learners overcome barriers and develop their skills. You'll encourage learners to achieve their goals, build their confidence and take an active role in their own education and future.

Your role will also involve contributing to learner reviews and education team meetings, maintaining accurate records and supporting the development and monitoring of person-centred plans and EHCPs.

The duties are varied and no two days will be the same. You may support learners to take part in educational activities, develop their communication and everyday living skills and access opportunities within their wider community. Supporting learners with dressing and personal care is also a requirement of this role.

We’re looking for someone who is caring, motivated and passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities to achieve their goals and fulfil their potential.

You'll need:

• Maths and English at GCSE level or equivalent
• A willingness to work towards a Level 3 teaching support qualification
• A positive attitude towards working with people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
• An understanding of the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework
• An understanding of person-centred planning and the ability to contribute to the development and monitoring of person-centred plans and EHCPs
• The ability to maintain clear and accurate recordsThe ability and willingness to support learners with dressing and personal care
• The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and build positive relationships with learners

Previous experience supporting people with sensory or dual sensory impairments or complex needs would be an advantage, as would experience within a specialist education college or similar setting.

Full training and ongoing development will be provided to support you in your role.
