Job summary

Sense College Peterborough is seeking an Education Support Worker to join our team and help learners develop skills and independence for adulthood. The role is permanent, part-time (21 hours across three days) with a salary of £14 per hour.

You will support learners with EHCPs, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to reviews while maintaining accurate records. Dressing and personal care support is included in duties.

Qualifications

• Good general education including literacy and numeracy to Level 2.
• Willingness to work towards Level 3 teaching support qualification.
• Understanding of SEND and Ofsted Education Inspection Framework.
• Ability to contribute to person-centred planning and EHCPs.
• Ability to maintain clear, accurate records.
• Willingness to support dressing and personal care.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and learners.

Responsibilities

Could you be an Education Support Worker?

We have a great opportunity for an Education Support Worker to join our team at Sense College Peterborough, supporting learners to develop their skills, independence and confidence as they prepare for adulthood.

This is a permanent, part-time role working 21 hours per week across three days, from 9:15am-4:15pm, for 39 weeks per year (term time), with a salary of £14 per hour.

As an Education Support Worker, you'll work closely with learners to help them achieve the outcomes identified in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), keeping their individual needs, choices and aspirations at the heart of the support you provide.

You'll work alongside experienced education colleagues to support teaching and learning, finding creative and inclusive ways to help learners overcome barriers and develop their skills. You'll inspire and motivate learners, promote positive learner behaviour and support them to progress towards their individual goals.

Your role will also involve contributing to learner reviews and education team meetings, maintaining accurate records and supporting the development and monitoring of person-centred plans and EHCPs.
The duties are varied and no two days will be the same. You may support learners to take part in educational activities, develop their communication and everyday living skills and access opportunities that help prepare them for adulthood. Supporting learners with dressing and personal care is also a requirement of this role.

What we're looking for:

We're looking for someone who is caring, motivated and passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities to achieve their goals and fulfil their potential.

You'll need:

• A good level of general education, including

  literacy and numeracy to Level 2

• A willingness to work towards a

  Level 3 teaching support qualification

• A positive attitude towards working with people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

• An understanding of the

  Ofsted Education Inspection Framework

• An understanding of person-centred planning and the ability to contribute to the development and monitoring of person-centred plans and EHCPs

• The ability to maintain clear and accurate records

• The ability and willingness to support learners with dressing and personal care

• The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and build positive relationships with learners

Previous experience supporting people with sensory or dual sensory impairments or complex needs would be an advantage, as would recent experience within a specialist education college or similar setting. British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1 or above is also desirable, alongside qualifications such as PTLLS Level 3, a Health and Social Care Diploma or an IT qualification at Level 2.
