Job summary

Morgan Jones Recruitment seeks a dedicated Safeguarding Officer to join a well-established education provider in Rotherham on a temporary basis until December 2027. You will promote welfare, act as a safeguarding contact, and liaise with learners, staff and external agencies to ensure safe practice.

The role requires experience in safeguarding, knowledge of child protection, and the ability to handle confidential information. An enhanced DBS check is required for the successful candidate.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in safeguarding, welfare, pastoral support, student services, or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding practices and child protection procedures.
• Experience working with young people and/or vulnerable adults.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as a point of contact for safeguarding and welfare concerns across the organisation.
• Support the identification, assessment, and management of safeguarding concerns and referrals.
• Liaise with learners, parents/carers, staff, and external agencies to ensure appropriate support is provided.
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date safeguarding records in line with organisational policies and statutory requirements.
• Support investigations and safeguarding interventions where required.
• Monitor learner attendance, wellbeing, and engagement, raising concerns where appropriate.
• Assist with safeguarding training and awareness activities for staff and learners.
• Work closely with curriculum, pastoral, and support teams to promote a safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, Prevent, health and safety, and data protection requirements.
• Contribute to safeguarding audits, reports, and quality assurance processes.
