Job summary

Educational provider in Rotherham is seeking a proactive Safeguarding Officer on a temporary basis until December. The role focuses on promoting the welfare, safety, and wellbeing of learners across the organisation.

The successful candidate will implement safeguarding procedures, manage referrals, and liaise with staff, learners, families, and external agencies. An enhanced DBS check will be required for the right candidate, supporting a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in safeguarding, welfare, pastoral support, or similar.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding practices and child protection procedures.
• Experience working with young people and/or vulnerable adults.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Act as a point of contact for safeguarding and welfare concerns across the organisation.
• Support the identification, assessment, and management of safeguarding concerns and referrals.
• Liaise with learners, parents/carers, staff, and external agencies to ensure appropriate support is provided.
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date safeguarding records in line with organisational policies and statutory requirements.
• Support investigations and safeguarding interventions where required.
• Monitor learner attendance, wellbeing, and engagement, raising concerns where appropriate.
• Assist with safeguarding training and awareness activities for staff and learners.
• Work closely with curriculum, pastoral, and support teams to promote a safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, Prevent, health and safety, and data protection requirements.
• Contribute to safeguarding audits, reports, and quality assurance processes.
