Job summary

Somerset Fire is seeking an experienced Education Manager to lead the Community Safety Prevention Team and shape educational programmes for children and young people across Devon and Somerset. The role focuses on developing evidence-based initiatives, evaluating impact and aligning activities with national guidance and local priorities.

You will work closely with the Prevention Lead and partners to deliver programmes such as Phoenix, Cadets and Fire Safety Initiatives, while driving

Qualifications

• Strong leadership experience within an education or school environment.
• Experience of strategic planning, service improvement and achieving high standards.
• The ability to manage change and support continuous development.
• Experience of setting objectives, supporting individuals and managing performance.
• Strong analytical, research and report writing skills, with the ability to use data to inform decisions.
• Excellent organisational skills, resilience and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day delivery and performance of the Education team.
• Support the strategic development of educational interventions for children and young people, ensuring programmes are targeted, effective and evidence led.
• Develop, implement, quality assure and evaluate innovative prevention initiatives and educational programmes.
• Use data, research and best practice to inform decision making, monitor performance and drive continuous improvement.
• Support the development and implementation of Community Safety Prevention Strategies and action plans.
• Provide professional advice and guidance on educational matters to managers, stakeholders and partners.
• Identify training and development needs to enhance the delivery and effectiveness of educational interventions.
• Represent the Service at local, regional and national meetings and working groups.
• Provide leadership, mentoring and performance support to team members through the Personal Performance and Development (PPD) Process.
• Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring all activities are delivered safely and effectively.
