Job summary

Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service seeks motivated CYP Advocate Intervention Instructors to support its Prevention team on a casual, ad-hoc basis. You will deliver engaging youth programmes such as Fire Cadets and Phoenix, helping young people build confidence, life skills and community awareness while promoting safer communities.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated safeguarding awareness for children, young people and vulnerable adults.
• Strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships with young people, staff and external partners.
• Understanding the importance of community involvement for the Service.
• Evidence of self-motivation and innovation.
• Experience of working with and developing young people through learning and training events.
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of youth intervention programmes (Fire Cadets, Phoenix, and similar initiatives).
• Supervise participants during drills and activities.
• Promote a positive, professional image of the Fire and Rescue Service.
• Encourage confidence, self-esteem and personal development in young people.
• Safeguard children and vulnerable individuals in line with Service policies.
• Maintain records and complete associated administration.
• Attend training and team meetings.
• Collaborate with partner agencies and community organisations.
