Job summary

Wade Macdonald is assisting an education-focused client near Oxford with a Temp to Perm Payroll Officer role. The position is hybrid, requiring 1 day in the office, and pays £17.00 to £18.00 per hour plus holiday pay.

The successful candidate will handle school payrolls, support payroll processes, and liaise with providers to ensure accurate, timely payments in a GDPR-compliant environment.

Qualifications

• School/Education payroll experience is essential.
• Strong understanding of payroll processes and legislation.
• Excellent numerical skills, advanced Excel knowledge and exceptional attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Acting as the first point of contact for payroll-related queries and guidance.
• Supporting schools with payroll processes, system usage and best practice.
• Processing payroll changes including starters, leavers, contractual amendments and additional payments.
• Calculating salaries, holiday pay, overtime and allowances etc.
• Reviewing payroll data and resolving discrepancies ahead of monthly payroll deadlines.
• Supporting pension administration activities and associated payroll processes.
• Maintaining accurate employee records and ensuring compliance with GDPR.
• Producing payroll reports and carrying out regular data validation checks.
• Liaising with payroll providers and internal stakeholders to ensure a high-quality payroll service. Assisting with payroll audits, reviews and process improvements.
