Job summary

Thurrock Council seeks an Education Lead Advisor to join the Families First MACPT. Based at Civic Offices, Grays, you will provide specialist educational advice within a multi-agency child protection environment and champion educational attainment for vulnerable children.

You will link schools, families, and partner agencies to ensure educational needs are addressed within safeguarding and family support interventions, contributing to sustainable improvements.

Qualifications

  • Holds a relevant qualification in Education, Teaching, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in education services and supporting vulnerable children and families.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection legislation, and statutory guidance.
  • Experience working effectively within multi-agency environments.
  • Excellent communication, partnership-building and influencing skills.
  • Ability to analyse information, challenge professionally, and make sound recommendations.
  • Passion for improving outcomes for children and young people.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert educational advice to the Families First MACPT.
  • Support assessment of children and families where educational concerns impact safeguarding and wellbeing.
  • Promote school attendance, engagement, attainment and inclusion.
  • Work with schools, early years, colleges and alternative provision providers.
  • Contribute to child protection conferences, core groups and multi‑agency planning processes.
  • Challenge and support educational settings to improve outcomes for vulnerable learners.
  • Analyse educational data to identify risks, trends and intervention opportunities.
  • Support families in accessing appropriate educational services and resources.
  • Advocate for children and young people to keep education at the center of planning.
