Job summary

Travail Employment Group seeks a Maintenance Assistant in Harrogate to join a dedicated maintenance and care-taking team within an educational environment. The role covers planned maintenance, site safety, and on-call duties with a salary of £30,800 including on-call allowance.

35 hours per week on a rotational shift (early and afternoon). DBS enhanced check is required; a full driving licence is essential. You will support events setup and liaise with contractors to maintain a safe site.

Qualifications

• Experience in education or care settings is preferred.
• Ability to perform basic plumbing, joinery, decoration and general maintenance.
• Willingness to complete DBS enhanced check and demonstrate reliability.

Responsibilities

• Open and secure the building and facilities.
• Undertake planned and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Conduct security checks and fire alarm testing; maintain emergency lighting.
• Provide caretaking or porter services as needed.
• Set up rooms and equipment for meetings and events.
• Liaise with on-site contractors; ensure work is safe and up to standard.
• Undertake minor repairs and general upkeep; basic vehicle maintenance as required.
• Install fixtures, clear drains and guttering; complete maintenance reports.
