About Haven House

Haven House Children’s Hospice provides specialist care and support to babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and to their families. We are committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality care and to supporting our staff to develop, grow and thrive in a supportive hospice environment.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Education Facilitator to join our clinical team at Haven House on a one-year fixed-term contract from September 2026. This role is ideal for a nurse who enjoys hands-on clinical practice and is passionate about supporting the development of others through education, training and practice development.

You will work a mixture of clinical shifts and protected education shifts, supporting colleagues to develop confidence and competence in caring for children with complex needs. Working alongside the Education and Governance Leads, you will help embed learning from incidents, audits, research and service developments into clinical practice, promoting high standards of care and continuous professional development across the hospice.

What you will be doing
Clinical Practice

You will deliver skilled, compassionate care to babies, children and young people with complex health needs, including those requiring non-invasive ventilation, long-term ventilation and parenteral nutrition.

You will provide safe tracheostomy, gastrostomy and jejunostomy care, emergency interventions and complex medication administration. You will also support children and families through end-of-life and bereavement care, acting as a calm and confident clinical presence and a role model for best practice and high professional standards.

There will be occasions where you will be required to deliver teaching and training, as well as carry out clinical assessments, within a child’s home environment as part of the service provision.

Following the successful completion of your probationary period, you will be expected to participate in the hospice on-call rota.

Education and Training

You will teach, supervise and assess staff in complex clinical skills, adapting your approach to meet different learning needs. You will support new starters, students and developing staff through structured learning plans and competency sign-off processes.

You will develop and deliver education programmes, clinical updates and learning opportunities that support the needs of the service. You will facilitate reflective practice, maintain accurate records of training, competencies and clinical supervision, and ensure all staff have equitable access to learning and development opportunities.

Quality Improvement and Practice Development

You will support the dissemination of learning from incidents, audits, complaints, compliments and service reviews, helping staff translate learning into improvements in clinical practice.

Working collaboratively with the Education and Governance Leads, you will contribute to audit activity from a learning perspective, supporting teams to implement and sustain improvements identified through audit findings. You will also provide educational input into policy development and review processes, ensuring staff understand and apply changes to practice.

You will promote a culture of learning, reflection and continuous improvement, supporting the implementation of evidence-based practice and encouraging engagement with quality improvement, research and innovation.

About you

You will be a registered children’s nurse (or RN with significant paediatric experience) who is confident working autonomously with complex clinical needs. You will enjoy supporting others to develop their skills, value high standards of care, and understand the importance of education and governance in delivering safe, effective services.

You will be reliable, organised and flexible, with strong communication skills and a compassionate, child- and family-centred approach.

Why join Haven House?

This is a unique opportunity to combine clinical excellence, education and governance in a well-established children’s hospice. You will be supported to develop your skills, influence practice and make a meaningful difference to children, young people and families at an incredibly important time in their lives.
