Job summary

Skilled Careers is seeking a Design Manager for education-sector projects in Sussex. You will manage the design process through pre-construction and delivery, coordinating packages and ensuring compliance with Building Regulations.

The role requires BIM Level 2 knowledge, proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, strong collaboration with clients, consultants and site teams, and effective design workshops. A competitive salary with car allowance, pension, medical cover, life assurance and 26 days

Qualifications

Experience managing design in the education sector.
Ability to oversee design and buildability across packages.

Responsibilities

Manage the design process to deliver technically compliant, cost-efficient design packages during pre-construction and project delivery.
Engage with digital and sustainability requirements of the project.
Liaise with subcontractors, design team members and external consultants to deliver design information that meets Building Regulations.
Chair Client Engagement Meetings and design workshops, coordinate complex design packages, and validate design details.
Provide guidance and technical support, working with client, Technical Advisors and project teams to identify risks and ensure statutory compliance.
Demonstrate competence across Arch, Structures and MEPH.
Assist with selecting subcontractors for Contractor Design Portions and developing Design Responsibility Matrix.
Ensure design programme is developed and managed with all parties and provide regular reporting.
