Job summary

The Guardian is seeking an assistant training editor, apprenticeships, to support and oversee the operational elements of our digital journalist scheme. You will champion editorial excellence, drive participant growth, and align training with desk requirements, onboarding, reviews and cohort community-building.

This is a full-time, two-year fixed-term contract or internal staff secondment, with responsibility for coordinating trainees and ensuring training programmes run on time and to a high

Qualifications

• Experience delivering or coordinating training for early-career talent or apprenticeship schemes.
• Strong understanding of high editorial standards and training impact on an organisation.
• Curiosity about the future of journalism and the skills needed by Guardian teams.
• Experience designing or delivering training in an editorial environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the deputy training editor with day-to-day delivery of the Guardian digital journalist scheme.
• Lead on deploying digital journalists to editorial desks and provide learning through practice.
• Build relationships with desk editors to feed skills needs back into the programme.
• Contribute to external and internal training plans and ensure alignment with operations.
• Deliver training workshops in areas of editorial specialism when required.
• Maintain programme calendars, plans and documentation and track progress.
