Job summary

Zaizi Ltd. seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to lead edge-native AI model design, quantization, and deployment for air-gapped environments, aligned with UK Defence standards.

You will translate state-of-the-art LLMs and knowledge-graph pipelines into constrained hardware while ensuring governance, safety, and human-in-the-loop decision-support for MoD stakeholders and prime contractors. Responsibilities include edge optimization, graph processing, AI governance, MLOps in low-bandwidth

Qualifications

• Active UK SC Clearance (minimum).
• Strong understanding of AI safety, non-repudiation, and human-in-the-loop operational constraints (JSP 936 V1.1 / Dependable AI).
• 3+ years of production experience deploying ML models to edge runtime environments (LiteRT/TFLite, ONNX, C++ bindings).
• Experience with model quantization techniques (INT8, INT4) and acceleration on NPU/GPU hardware.

Responsibilities

• Edge Model Optimization & Deployment: Quantize, fine-tune, and optimize open-source SLMs and vision-language models for edge runtimes.
• Knowledge Analytics & Graph Processing: Design and maintain lightweight on-device graph databases and relationship extraction pipelines (Python, Rust, or C++).
• JSP 936 & AI Governance: Implement bounding guardrails, prompt evaluation, and anti-hallucination controls for compliance.
• Data & MLOps Pipelines: Build reproducible training, evaluation, and containerised deployment pipelines for air-gapped environments.
• Technical Client Advisory: Translate ML/AI concepts into clear recommendations for MoD stakeholders and Prime contractors.
