Leonardo UK is seeking Principal Software Engineer (AI/ML) to work on cutting-edge defence and aerospace projects in the UK. You will join our software community within Electronics UK, delivering high-integrity software that leverages AI/ML to power advanced systems such as sixth-generation platforms and secure data processing.

The role requires a strong foundation in AI/ML, a degree in CS or engineering, and hands-on experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, and scalable pipelines, plus awareness of

Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and practical experience delivering high-integrity software.
Experience on Agile projects across the full software life cycle.
Knowledge of AI/ML, transformer architectures, tokenisation, embeddings, and LLM fine-tuning.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with systems engineers to develop deployable AI/ML software for defence and aerospace projects.
Design and implement scalable pipelines, APIs, vector databases, and RAG workflows.
Assess risk, security, privacy, and governance in AI deployments.
