Job summary

Zaizi seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to lead the design, quantization, and deployment of edge-native AI models and knowledge analytics engines for air‑gapped, bandwidth‑constrained environments.

You will ensure 100% compliance with UK Defence standards (JSP 936), delivering deterministic, explainable, human‑in‑the‑loop decision support for intelligence and operational users, and translate ML concepts for MoD stakeholders and Prime contractors.

Qualifications

• Active UK Defence clearance is required.
• Strong understanding of AI safety, non-repudiation and human‑in‑the‑loop constraints (JSP 936 Dependable AI).
• 3+ years deploying ML models to edge runtimes (LiteRT/TFLite/ONNX).
• Experience with model quantization (INT8/INT4) and hardware acceleration.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, quantization, and deployment of edge-native AI models.
• Develop lightweight on-device graph databases and relation extraction pipelines.
• Ensure compliance with JSP 936 AI governance and MoD ethics standards.
• Build reproducible training, evaluation, and containerised deployment pipelines for air-gapped environments.
• Provide technical advisory to MoD stakeholders and prime contractors.
