Job description

We are seeking a Therapy Assistant to join our Trauma and Orthopaedic team on the inpatient wards. In this role, you will work under direct supervision to undertake various activities supporting our Physiotherapy/Therapy teams in providing excellent patient care. Responsibilities include working with clinicians during assessments or treatments, supporting patients with prescribed exercises or mobility plans, undertaking administrative tasks, and maintaining equipment and stock levels.

It is an exciting time to join our service as the Trust is committed to becoming a designated major trauma centre over the next 5 years, and we have recently opened a new dedicated on-site elective Orthopaedic surgery facility.

You will receive training, supervision, and an annual appraisal, with opportunities for personal development through our competency framework. We value our staff highly and invest in their growth to ensure continuous service improvement.

Post holders will be included in the orthopaedic inpatient weekend and bank holiday roster to meet the 7-day working commitment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Support physiotherapy delivery by undertaking clinical tasks under supervision.
  2. Assist with non-clinical tasks to support the physiotherapy service.
  3. Act as a role model, demonstrating NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values: People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity, and Excellence, to deliver a high-quality, safe, and compassionate healthcare service.

We operate from 8:00 – 20:00 in some areas, and staff may need to work early, late, or long shifts. The role involves a 7-day working pattern with a scheduled roster for weekends and bank holidays.

Our hospital supports patients at every stage of their care, emphasizing individual needs and professional development. We are engaged in research activities, collaborating with the University of East Anglia, and committed to integrating research into clinical practice.

Join us at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, part of one of the UK’s largest NHS trusts, serving around one million people. We are a teaching and research hospital with state-of-the-art facilities, including the Quadram Institute, and a diverse workforce representing 94 countries.

We offer a friendly, collaborative environment with NHS benefits and additional perks, including:

  • Flexible working hours
  • Fast Track Staff Physiotherapy Service
  • Multi Faith prayer room
  • Discounted gym memberships
  • Excellent pension scheme and annual leave
  • Wagestream – access up to 40% of your pay as you earn it
  • Free Park & Ride
  • Confidential counselling support
  • On-site Nursery and cafes with staff discounts
  • Career development support and flexible staff bank
  • Salary Sacrifice schemes (lease cars, Cycle to Work, home electronics)
