Job Summary

You will be joining an organisation embarking on its most ambitious programme of change yet. You will be a key member of a team of highly skilled Technology Service Engineers, owning, designing, developing, and setting strategy in your specialist technology area while collaborating with other talented engineers.

Reporting to the Technology Service Manager, you will gain exposure at senior levels, navigating across directorate teams and working closely with third-party suppliers.

Main duties of the job

As Technology Services Engineer - Wintel, you will actively manage infrastructure and server technology, including Windows Server services hosted in VMWare, Azure, and Oracle Cloud.

Your Duties Will Include

• Design, build, configure, administer, and support infrastructure technologies such as compute, storage, networking, and operating systems based on Windows and Intel platforms.
• Support delivery and maintenance of Wintel and VMware components and services.
• Apply design principles and controls to optimise service availability, recoverability, and cost.
• Maintain and manage risks associated with existing Wintel technologies through product roadmap development and change activities.
• Collaborate with security and information governance teams to develop and maintain security and compliance standards.
• Manage infrastructure-related pipeline requests, including estimating, planning, and execution.

Travel and overnight stays may be required with prior notice.

About You

Experience and Knowledge

• Experience managing full-service management lifecycles is essential.
• Knowledge of IT best practices per ITIL standards.
• Experience with Service Design and transition within IT Service Management.
• Ability to present complex information to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Thorough understanding of modern IS/IT technologies relevant to the role.
• Knowledge of relevant IT legislation such as Data Protection, Computer Act, and Computer Misuse Act.

Qualifications And Training

• Advanced experience, specialist knowledge, and qualifications equivalent to a postgraduate diploma.
• ITIL Foundation qualification.
• Postgraduate qualification in a relevant ICT area.
• Valid UK driving licence.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development (CPD).
