Job description

SENIOR PROJECTS LAWYER - CONSTRUCTION & INFRASTRUCTURE | INTERNATIONAL LAW FIRM | CITY OF LONDON

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Projects and Construction Lawyer to join a Tier 1-ranked Construction & Infrastructure team at a leading international law firm, based in London.

This firm is one of the most prominent names in global construction and infrastructure law, with over 3000 professionals operating across Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa. It combines deep sector knowledge with legal and commercial excellence, delivering best-in-class advice to private and public sector clients alike.

The firm invests heavily in its people, with recognised initiatives around diversity, wellbeing, agile working and legal innovation - including its own legal tech platform, freelance lawyer hub, and D&I consultancy. Its progressive culture and consistent recognition for excellence make it one of the most attractive employers in the legal sector today.

This is a standout position for an experienced lawyer who wants to work on high-profile, complex infrastructure and energy projects, alongside market-leading lawyers, in a team recognised globally for its depth and expertise.

THE ROLE

You will join a market-leading team acting for an impressive client roster that includes major UK and international contractors, developers, institutional investors, public sector bodies, and multinational energy companies. The work spans a wide range of sectors, including:

- Infrastructure (transport, roads, rail)
- Energy (nuclear, renewables, conventional, oil & gas)
- Social infrastructure (education, health, housing)
- Real estate and development
- Water, waste and utilities

This role offers exposure to both front-end construction and projects work, with particular emphasis on real estate development and finance-related mandates. You'll be advising on complex, high-risk building developments, safety regulations, and contract negotiation across a broad and high-value portfolio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Advising on all aspects of construction and project development, particularly transactional and risk-related issues
- Supporting major infrastructure, energy and development schemes across the UK and internationally
- Working closely with real estate and finance colleagues on cross-disciplinary mandates
- Managing key client relationships and helping develop new opportunities
- Supervising junior lawyers and contributing to a collaborative team environment
- Supporting strategic bids, pitches and knowledge initiatives

THE CANDIDATE

To be considered, you will be a qualified solicitor with at least 5 years' PQE and a strong track record in construction and projects work, ideally gained in a leading commercial law firm or in-house legal team.

You will also demonstrate:

- Experience advising on real estate development and construction finance projects
- Strong knowledge of UK building safety regulations and construction risk
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and commercial skills
- The ability to build lasting relationships with clients and colleagues alike
- A proactive, collaborative approach to working across teams and jurisdictions
- Exposure to both construction and broader infrastructure projects is an advantage, and flexibility across sectors will be welcomed.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a rare opportunity to join a truly global firm that is consistently ranked top-tier for construction and infrastructure work in both Legal 500 and Chambers UK. The team is known for its collaborative culture, breadth of work, and involvement in some of the most iconic projects worldwide - including Crossrail, HS2, Hinkley Point, the Olympics, and major international schemes such as the Gautrain and Dubai Expo.

What's on offer:

- A dynamic, high-performing team with global reach and unmatched sector expertise
- High-calibre work on landmark UK and international infrastructure projects
- Genuine career progression in a supportive and structured environment
- First-class training and ongoing professional development
- Agile and flexible working, with a strong emphasis on work-life balance
- A culture of inclusion, innovation and collaboration
