Your role and responsibilities


The HR Operations Senior Payroll Specialist performs day-to-day HR transactions for the Payroll Service Line supporting the UK and Ireland group of Payrolls, handling complex calculations, enquiries, and escalated tasks. They are accountable for end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and providing support and guidance to customers and colleagues while delivering high-quality services against globally set performance targets. The Senior Payroll Specialist ensures a high level of customer experience by completing HR transactions accurately and promptly. They support the standards set for HR Operations and ensure adherence to local legal and regulatory requirements within the HR Operations Front Office / Hub.

Main Accountabilities:

  1. Execute and deliver HR services in compliance with business processes, KPIs, and quality targets, maintaining end-to-end responsibility.
  2. Perform control tasks independently, including 4-eye checks / SOX checks, data protection, and legal/regulatory compliance, following AskHR Way of Working.
  3. Maintain high data quality and accuracy in systems and documentation such as SOPs.
  4. Handle complex payroll calculations, enquiries, and escalated tasks.
  5. Coordinate with external vendors and agencies on payroll matters.
  6. Review payroll inputs from internal sources for accuracy.
  7. Ensure compliance with local legal and regulatory requirements.
  8. Support team members through task sharing and knowledge transfer.
  9. Deliver HR services with a customer-oriented and proactive attitude.
  10. Understand stakeholder needs and engage effectively.
  11. Act as a point of contact for HR inquiries and support multiple Service Lines.
  12. Educate customers on policies, processes, and HR tools.
  13. Collaborate across GBS HR Operations and other HR functions to optimize processes and tools.
  14. Identify process deficiencies and recommend improvements.
  15. Lead process improvement activities and participate in quality control and audits.
  16. Manage RCA's and escalations, driving related improvements.
  17. Proactively act as an expert in complex cases/projects, fostering collaboration across countries and functions.
  18. Execute and deliver critical HR services and legal responsibilities.
  19. Provide guidance to colleagues.
