Job summary

Warwickshire County Council is seeking an Assistant Ecologist to support the delivery of the GCN district level licence across Warwickshire, Coventry & Solihull. The role is full time and temporary for 12 months, offering a hands-on opportunity to work with developers and planning authorities.

You will provide guidance on planning requirements, monitor compliance, and help create compensatory habitats while expanding your knowledge of ecology and planning processes.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of great crested newt ecology and planning application processes is advantageous.
• Fluency in spoken English for public advisory is expected.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of the GCN district level licence across Warwickshire, Coventry & Solihull authorities.
• Raise awareness of the scheme within local planning authorities and provide planning guidance.
• Monitor compliance and advise on enforcement measures for ecological planning.
• Identify GCN constraints in planning applications and support habitat creation.
